Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Abdul Hakim Bashar, emphasized that the primary objective behind the repeated arson attacks on offices of the Kurdish National Council in multiple regions and over successive periods by the PYD militia is to instill fear among the population and disrupt any political or cultural movements that oppose their malevolent agendas.
Bashar further stated in a press release that the recent assaults by the PYD militia targeting those commemorating the anniversary of Barzani’s death on March 1 in Ayn al-Arab (Kobani) and al-Darbasiyah were intended to intimidate the population and deter them from participating in events that foster unity. He also noted that these desperate attacks aim to coerce people into leaving their communities and seeking refuge in safer, more stable countries.
Bashar strongly condemned these atrocities, asserting that they flagrantly violate fundamental humanitarian standards, human rights, and freedoms of opinion and expression. He urged the international community to designate Juanin Shurker, a militia affiliated with the PYD, as a terrorist organization.
