According to activists, a public market in the town of Al-Abzimo in western rural Aleppo was targeted by the Assad regime and Russian forces, resulting in the death of a civilian and several injuries. The shelling caused a fire in the area.
Additionally, the Syrian Civil Defense reported that the Assad regime and Russian forces targeted a public market and residential neighborhoods in Atarib, west of Aleppo, injuring two people during the first day of Ramadan.
In other incidents, the town of Atarib and the village of Al-Jinah in western rural Aleppo were also targeted by artillery shelling, which endangered displaced people sheltering in tents. Meanwhile, the Assad regime and Russian forces shelled the outskirts of Dana, north of Idlib, without any civilian casualties reported.
Ayman al-Asimi, a member of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), called attention to the daily crimes committed by the Assad regime and its Russian ally against unarmed civilians in liberated areas. He urged countries attempting to normalize relations with the Assad regime to consider the regime’s long history of bloody military behavior against Syrians, and to prevent the regime and its allies from using de-escalation zones as a cover for their ongoing aggression.
Al-Asimi emphasized the importance of a peaceful political solution to restore stability and security to Syria and the region, and cautioned that ignoring the regime’s military approach could lead to even greater threats.
