Secretary-General of the Syrian National Coalition, Abd al-Basit Abd al-Latif, met members of the political committee in Idlib, head of the Free Association of Tadmur Ex-detainees, and commanders of the Syrian National Army in the town of Jindires in Afrin countryside.
Abd al-Latif was accompanied by members of the Coalition’s political committee and the General Assembly Ahmed Ramadan, Bahjat al-Atassi, Ahmed al-Shehadi, and Najib Rahmoun.
Participants also discussed the grave situation in Idlib as they reviewed the on the ground and military situation in the battlefronts and the morale of the opposition fighters. They saluted the heroes of the Syrian National Army, stressing that their legendary steadfastness in the face of the Russian military machine, the world’s second most powerful army, will live on as an eternal symbol of courage in the conscience of the Syrian people.
They also discussed the situation in the liberated areas, especially the towns and villages most affected by the bombardment and shelling and ways to meet the basic needs of civilians so that they settle down in the areas they are resorting to.
Moreover, participants discussed the conditions of the people who fled Idlib and Aleppo, their humanitarian and relief needs, the areas they are heading to, and the work of local councils in the relatively safer areas in order to accommodate the displaced people and look after their needs.
They reaffirmed commitment to the rights of the Syrian people and the principles of the revolution for freedom and dignity. They also stressed the importance of continued communication between the political components and revolutionary bodies in the liberated areas with the Coalition and ways to enhance cooperation and coordination.
