Member of the Political Committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) and Coordinator of the Working Group for Refugees and Displaced Persons, Ahmed Bakkoura, presented a report on the group’s preparatory work to the General Assembly during its 69th meeting held at the office of the Syrian Interim Government in the Aleppo countryside on Thursday.
Bakkoura discussed the initiation of preparations and coordination for the group’s work, outlining the identification of committee members in Syria, Türkiye, Lebanon, and Iraq to enhance follow-up on the situation of Syrian refugees in those countries.
He stated that the group aims to intensify monitoring of the conditions of Syrian refugees, facilitate their administrative and legal procedures, particularly in Lebanon and Türkiye, and address specific issues in the host countries by providing suitable solutions.
Bakkoura highlighted the collaboration between UNICEF and Lebanon to support Syrian students, emphasizing that there are 200,000 students in Lebanon who have discontinued their education due to the challenging conditions faced by Syrians in the country.
