The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Department of Foreign Relations submitted its work report to the General Assembly in its 52nd meeting. The report detailed the work the Department accomplished in the third quarter and its plan of action for the last quarter of 2020.
Coordinator of the Department, Abdulahad Asteipho, pointed out that the Department’s vision focused on strengthening international and regional relations as well as investing the common interests so as to serve the goals of the Syrian revolution and the SOC’s political vision.
The report highlighted the Department’s work regarding the rejection of the oil contracts that the PYD militia signed with a US company, a campaign to confront the coronavirus, the sanctions imposed on the Assad regime under the Caesar Act, the situation inside Al-Houl and al-Rukban IDP camps, and securing scholarships for Syrian students.
Asteipho pointed out that the Department developed a strategy to strengthen the SOC’s relationships with the United States and the European Union.
He indicated that the Department has appointed new SOC’s representatives in the European Union, Belgium, Germany, France, and the United States with the aim of strengthening relationships with these states as well as reaching out to the Syrian communities in these countries.
Asteipho introduced the SOC’s new representatives to the General Assembly, who in turn affirmed commitment to achieve the SOC’s goals of mobilizing international support for the Syrian revolution and the Syrian people’s struggle to regain freedom and dignity. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
