Director of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s Office (SOC) in Gaziantep, Muhammad Al-Shamali, visited Mrs. Laila Muhammad in the hospital to check on her health condition. He stressed the SOC’s support for Laila against the physical assault that she suffered in Gaziantep on Monday.
Al-Shamali said that they contacted the family of Mrs. Laila and knew that she is fine, but she is currently hospitalized in order to conduct tests and check on her health condition.
Al-Shamali added that the SOC would follow up on the case with the official Turkish authorities so that the perpetrator would be held accountable.
He also said that he was assigned by the SOC’s President and Secretary-General to follow up on the condition of Mrs. Laila and follow the legal procedures in Gaziantep province.
The Gaziantep police said they had arrested the attacker Şakir Çakır and that he would be prosecuted, with the Turkish media indicating that he had a previous criminal record.
