Spokesman for the Syrian Coalition Salem al-Meslet condemns the two suicide bombings carried out by ISIS elements in the towns of Marea and Hur Kilis north of Aleppo. The attacks targeted compounds belonging to rebel groups, killing and injuring dozens, including two rebel leaders.
“ISIS exploited the rebels’ concentration on fighting pro-regime forces who have been trying desperately to encircle Aleppo,” Meslet said.
“Countering ISIS extremism needs unifying our efforts and upholding the principles of the Syrian Revolution, in parallel with a significant shift in the international community’s position on the situation in Syria.”
“ISIS and the Assad regime’s continued barbarity lays great moral responsibilities on the international community to provide meaningful support for the Syrian people, not only in order to achieve their legitimate aspirations and protect civilians; but to ward off more risks and possibilities that threaten the region and the whole world.”
Meslet extends condolences to the families of the victims of the terrorist attacks, reaffirming confidence in the revolution’s forces that adhere to the principles of the revolution and that respect international conventions and laws. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
