The Executive Director of the Assistance Coordination Unit, Muhammad Hasno, presented an overview of the Unit’s work over the past two months to the General Assembly of the Syrian Opposition Coalition at its 69th meeting held at the office of the Syrian Interim Government in the Aleppo countryside on Thursday.
Hasno discussed the Unit’s activities in humanitarian and development response, particularly highlighting reports on IDP camps, schools, efforts of Syrian organizations, the conditions of people with special needs, political awareness, and the provision of basic services.
He provided specific details about executed projects related to information management, including the movement of IDP camps, the return of displaced persons, Assad regime bombings of villages, living conditions, activities at border crossings, and spatial distribution in the regions.
Hasno referred to objective reports on schools, dropout rates, and an examination of the causes behind dropouts. Additionally, he discussed supporting education, the role of civil society organizations in governance, and the Unit’s supervision of the largest early warning network for 13 epidemics, with periodic reports issued. He emphasized increased efforts to achieve outcomes that benefit the people in the region.
The Executive Director mentioned the Unit’s involvement in strategic projects, such as supporting olive farmers, clean energy initiatives, and studying the implementation of the irrigation project on the Maidanki Dam in the Afrin region. The Unit also issues a report on the standard of living of Syrians in the region.
Hasno underscored the Unit’s ongoing support for and provision of millions of doses of childhood vaccines. He highlighted monitoring nutritional deficiencies in women and children, emphasizing its impact on children’s future. Additionally, he provided insights into activities related to managing human rights platforms and communication with 45 human rights organizations to facilitate visits and exchange experiences.
