The Coordinator of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) office in the liberated areas, Najib Rahmoun, and SOC member Asaad Allito, participated in an extended gathering that brought together representatives of civil and community actors, activists, unions, federations, political parties, and revolutionary associations.
This meeting was organized through the collaborative efforts of the Stabilization Support Unit in partnership with the Association of Professional and Scientific Syndicates, Free Federations in Syria, and the United Revolutionary Movement. Its primary objective was to delve into various crucial aspects of the Syrian revolution, event developments, and the way forward.
The meeting was structured around two principal topics. The first topic revolved around the authentic representation of the Syrian populace, the entities holding the legitimacy to represent the Syrian people, and the potential avenues to achieve genuine representation.
Turning to the second topic, discussions zeroed in on the key messages and demands put forth by civil and revolutionary actors and groups to the Syrian revolutionary and opposition forces. Additionally, this segment featured critiques of their work, performance, and representation.
Rahmoun emphasized the significance of the ideas presented during the meeting, which are indicative of the earnest desire of the revolutionary social base to steer the course of Syrian revolutionary and opposition forces toward fulfilling the demands of the Syrian revolution for freedom, dignity, and democracy.
He further elaborated that the discussions held during the meeting were met with satisfaction and contentment. Importantly, they align with the SOC’s work program for the forthcoming stage, which emphasizes participation and cooperation in order to effect change in the Syrian landscape. All of the demands discussed will be referred to the SOC’s presidential body and political committee to be incorporated into their vision and action plan for the future.
