The Free University of Aleppo has inked a cooperation, partnership, and twinning agreement with the Italian University of Teramo, spanning academic, scientific, and research domains. This agreement marks the initial stride toward securing recognition for certificates issued by the Free University of Aleppo in liberated areas.
The agreement stemmed from a meeting between a delegation from the Free University of Aleppo, led by Imad Barq, Vice President for Administrative and Student Affairs, and Abdullah Hamada, Vice President of the University’s Studies and Research Center, and a delegation from the University of Teramo. The latter included Pietro Gargiulo, Vice President for Legal and Administrative Affairs, and Fiammita Ricci, Professor of Political Philosophy and the university president’s representative overseeing the twinning initiative with the Free University of Aleppo.
The gathering also saw the presence of Ahmed Baccoura, representative of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Bassem Hatahet from the European Diplomatic Institute, and Simona Fernandes, Director of the Italian Peace Foundation.
During the meeting, both parties outlined a series of steps to commence the establishment of academic master’s and doctoral programs at the Free University of Aleppo, focusing initially on agricultural and environmental sciences, technical and organic agriculture, and political sciences. Subsequent phases will explore further specializations in economic and communication sciences, among others.
Discussions delved into educational policies, curriculum design, examination procedures, certificate equivalency, teaching methodologies for upcoming programs, and the potential provision of student scholarships.
The conclusion of the meeting witnessed the delegation from the University of Aleppo presenting tokens of appreciation to the administration of the University of Teramo, the European committee representative, and the Director of the Italian Peace Foundation.
