Member of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Basil Ghuneim, condemned the Assad regime’s rounding up of young people in the areas under its controls, stressing that arrests are one of the Assad regime’s major tactics to control the country and rule it with iron and fire.
Ghuneim pointed out that the arrests did not stop, and that the Assad regime is unlikely to change its behavior. He called on the international community to take serious positions regarding detainees and missing persons and not to remain silent about the Assad regime’s violations.
The Ahrar Houran Conglomerate said that the Assad regime launched an arrests campaign in the neighborhoods of Dara’a city on Tuesday, detaining more than 20 young men.
Ghuneim also said that the Assad regime arrests young men to force them to join its forces under the threat of execution.
