The Free Syrian Army fighters destroyed five tanks belonging to regime forces near the town of Deir Makir in northwestern Dara’a and thwarted attempts by regime forces to recapture the town.
FSA fighters fired a barrage of mortar and artillery shells on the Assad regime’s security complex in Al Sanamayn, achieving direct hits. Eyewitnesses in the town said they saw ambulances rushing to the military hospital in the town.
The FSA announced yesterday that they would target all the regime’s military and security positions in the towns of Al Sanamayn, Jbab, Kafr Shams, Jaddiya, Qaita, and Qaniya. They said the new offensive aims to soften the regime’s defenses before announcing the launch of the battle for Damascus.
Rebels in Eastern Ghouta repelled attempts by regime forces to break into the District of Douma, inflicting heavy losses on the attackers and killing six officers and destroying two tanks and an armored personnel carrier.
