Coordinator of the Interfaith Working Group, Farouk Tayfour, presented a work report to the General Assembly of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) during its 69th meeting held at the office of the Syrian Interim Government in Aleppo province on Thursday.
Tayfour highlighted the activities and meetings conducted by the group with Syrian religious institutions both within Syria and the diaspora, with a primary focus on addressing the political and social issues prevalent in Syrian society.
Emphasizing the significance of engaging Syrian Muslim scholars and representatives of other religions in liberated areas, Tayfour underscored the group’s commitment to developing robust relations with them. He elaborated on discussions concerning the pivotal role and importance of religious institutions in public affairs, emphasizing the necessity of initiating efforts to formulate a Syrian social contract that encapsulates the identity and culture of Syrian society.
