Israeli warplanes launched several airstrikes targeting military sites in the provinces of Tartous and Latakia late Sunday night, resulting in massive and violent explosions.
Activists shared footage on social media showing flames and plumes of smoke rising in the skies over the countryside of Tartous.
According to local sources, the strikes targeted on depots belonging to the Syrian army in Tartous province.
These airstrikes are part of a long series of attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation on Syrian territories since the fall of the Assad regime. The Israeli occupation army has intensified its bombardment of Syrian army sites in several provinces, including Damascus and its countryside, Daraa, Suwaida, Homs, Hama, Tartous, and Latakia.
According to Israeli occupation media, the occupation’s air force has dropped around 83,000 bombs across various battlefronts since the onset of the war. Among these, more than 1,800 heavy bombs were dropped within a single week on Syrian army targets, destroying about 80% of Syria’s air defense system.
Hadi Al-Bahra, President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), condemned all acts of aggression carried out by the Israeli occupation against Syria and the country’s infrastructure, especially during these critical times for the Syrian people.
Al-Bahra called on the international community to take appropriate measures to ensure the re-commitment to all previously signed agreements between Syria and the occupying state, including ceasefire agreements and armistice agreements signed in 1974 and 1949.
