Ahmed Hassan, a member of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), praised the efforts of the people in Jinderes and the civil defense teams for their help in relieving the victims of the earthquake.
Hassan stated that the lack of equipment and professional rescue teams has slowed the rescue operations. The local council in Jinderes has declared the town a disaster area, stating that it is in dire need of aid from charity organizations.
The earthquake has so far claimed the lives of over 675 people and left thousands trapped under destroyed buildings. The council also reported that 257 buildings have been completely destroyed, causing displacement of tens of thousands of people in the harsh, cold weather without shelter, food, or water.
