The Syrian Coalition states that the Assad regime is responsible for the escalation of violence in Syria as it still insists on pursuing a military solution to the crisis. The Syrian Coalition, which confirms its commitment to a political solution based on the Geneva I Communique, has not yet found a serious partner in the peace process.
In a speech in front of the European Parliament on Wednesday, Vice-president Hisham Marwa said that the continued Russian aggression Syria casts a lot of doubt about Russia’s commitment to a political solution.
Marwa explained the types of violence and repression the Assad regime employed against the Syrian people over five years of the revolution. He stressed the complexity of the situation of Syria should not be used as an excuse to overlook the fact that the Assad regime and its allies are responsible for nearly 95% of the crimes and violations in Syria.
Marwa stressed that to stop violence, we must tackle its root causes, which is Assad’s tyranny.
He explained that the magnitude of the tragedy transcended Syria’s borders and hit Paris on November 13, stressing that Syrians understand more anybody else the roots of the tragedy. Over the past five years, Assad has transformed Syria from a country of civilization, tolerance and pluralism to a magnet for extremism and terrorism. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
