Head of the Syrian Interim Government (SIG), Abdurrahman Mustafa, gave a speech during a ceremony on the eleventh anniversary of the start of the Syrian revolution in the town of Hour Kilis in rural Aleppo. He stressed that all the crimes that the regime has committed against the Syrian people, including killings, displacement and destruction, have so far failed to quell the revolution whose values and principles are deeply rooted in the hearts of the Syrian people.
Mustafa pointed out that these days bring with them the memories of the peaceful demonstrations in which the demonstrators demanded freedom, and how the Assad regime met them with utter criminality when it sent its criminal intelligence agents and armed militias to suppress the demonstrations and kill the demonstrators.
He added that many people did not expect the Syrian people to start a revolution in view of the regime’s brutality, adding that the revolution came as a logical result by a heroic people who refuse to be humiliated.
Mustafa stressed that the lessons of history have proven that the most powerful forces of evil and tyranny have collapsed before the will of the people, stressing that the Syrian people are the descendants of an ancient civilization and makers of history.
Mustafa pointed that under the current circumstances, the Syrian Interim Government is working to improve the reality for all Syrians. It is also seeking to put differences aside, complete the organization of the ranks of the Syrian National Army, build civil institutions, and working hard towards salvation and victory.
He stressed that SIG is also seeking to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people, provide them with the necessities of a decent life, achieve security and stability, meet the population’s needs, and focus primarily on the sectors of healthcare, education, basic services and agriculture.
Mustafa concluded his speech by stressing that the revolution of the Syrian people is a revolution of what is right, and that what is right will emerge victorious no matter how long it takes. He stressed that the regime of oppression and tyranny will eventually be brought down and will be held accountable for all its crimes.
