The National Commission for the Affairs of Missing Persons and Detainees met female survivors from the Assad regime’s prisons in the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Office in rural Aleppo.
The meeting brought together Head of the Commission, Yasser Al-Farhan, female survivors, and members of the SOC’s Office in northern Aleppo.
Al-Farhan said that the two sides agreed on steps to strengthen cooperation in the defense of female survivors from the Assad regime’s prisons and in conveying their demands to international, regional and local forums.
Al-Farhan stressed the need to work on documenting the female survivors’ stories and redress them as well as to prevent impunity, adding that efforts need to be stepped up to provide work and study opportunities for the female survivors, build capacities, and seek psychological support for them.
