Vice-president of the Syrian Coalition Muwaffaq Nyrabiya said that the Assad regime prevented children in Syria from enjoying even one hour of the Eid. Syrian families exchanged condolences instead of best wishes on this special day, Nyrabiya added.
At least 68 people, including 9 children and 4 women, were killed by the Assad regime and Russian forces on the third day of Eid Alfitr. A total of 56 breaches of the three-day truce announced on the first day of Eid were recorded across Syria on Saturday.
Nyrabiya pointed out that the continued crimes by the Assad regime during the Eid days undermined all chances of launching a new round of negotiations in Geneva. The Assad regime is still not serious about the political process; it believes only in violence, bloodshed and destruction.
These latest crimes provide further proof the Assad regime is still unwilling to respect any truce agreement, Nyrabiya stressed. He called upon the international Syria Support Group (ISSG) to take urgent and concrete action in order to create appropriate conditions for the resumption of the political process that will lead to genuine political transition in Syria.
