The Political Committee of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) convened its regular meeting on Thursday, presided over by SOC’s President, Salem Al-Meslet. The meeting delved into the latest field and political developments, with particular focus on events occurring east of the Euphrates and in the Suwayda province.
President Al-Meslet provided an overview of his recent meeting with the US State Department delegation. This discussion centered on the peaceful anti-regime movement in Suwayda and the populace’s calls for the overthrow of the Assad regime. Additionally, the meeting addressed the ongoing aggression by the PYD terrorist militia against civilians in the eastern Euphrates region.
Members of the political committee underscored the legitimate right of Arab tribes to reclaim their lands from the PYD militia. They emphasized that the conflict in Deir Ezzor should not be construed as a battle between Kurds and Arabs, but rather a struggle between the rightful landowners and an organization driven by external interests.
The committee also conducted a comprehensive review of the current on-ground situation in Syria, with a particular focus on the military escalation in Idlib and rural Aleppo by the Assad regime and Russia. The meeting also discussed the joint bombardments involving regime forces and the PYD militia in liberated areas, which resulted in the loss of lives and numerous injuries. These events prompted thousands of civilians to flee their homes.
