The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee held a regular meeting in the presence of President Salem Al-Meslet on Wednesday and Thursday. It discussed the latest field and political developments, and reviewed the reports on the work of departments, offices and committees.
Al-Meslet gave an overview on his participation in the Politics in the 21st Century and New Initiatives Forum which was held by the Justice and Development Party in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Al-Meslet also spoke about his visit to the Turkish province of Bursa to participate in the funeral of the Syrian family who perished in the fire that engulfed their house on Wednesday.
Vice-President Abdulahad Astepho gave an overview on the meeting he held with Swedish officials, in which he welcome Sweden’s new decision to ban the activities of the PKK terrorist organization on its territory. He also stressed the importance of developing relations between the SOC and Sweden.
Astepho also talked about his meeting with the political advisor at the French Foreign Ministry, and the ongoing preparations for a meeting with representatives of friendly and sisterly states.
Vice President Abdul Hakim Bashar spoke about the meeting held between the Kurdish National Council and the US Special Envoy to Syria Ethan Goldrich, during which they discussed the political process and the situation in northeastern and northwestern Syria.
Vice President Ruba Habboush talked about the workshops that the Syrian Women’s Authority has held in recent weeks.
The committee reviewed a report presented by the Military Liaison Committee, and a political briefing presented by the Coordinator of the Strategic Consultation Committee Ahmed Tomeh, in which he talked about the upcoming Astana meeting which will be held soon in light of the stalled Constitutional Committee.
Moreover, the Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee, the Department of Media and Communications, the Office of Refugee Affairs, the Al-Jazira and Euphrates Committee and the Office of Studies and Documents presented their work reports, in which they highlighted their plans, activities and events.
