The PYD militia terrorist continues to carry out kidnappings and widespread arrest campaigns in the areas under its control with the aim of compulsory conscription into its ranks. The arrest campaign has recently affected young men in rural Al-Hasakah and Aleppo.
Local activists said that the PYD militia is carrying out an arrest campaign in the town of Manbij in eastern rural Aleppo with the aim of compulsory recruitment, adding that more than 50 young men have so far been detained.
The activists added that the arrests affected the people of the town of Markada in southern rural Hasakah, where at least 10 young men were arrested amid popular discontent with the recruitment campaigns and in light of the dire living conditions in those areas.
The compulsory recruitment is emptying these areas of the youth as dozens are leaving the PYD-held areas for fear of being forcibly sent to recruitment camps and then to battle fronts.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) al-Jazira and Euphrates Committee held a workshop on the ongoing depopulation of al-Jazira and Euphrates regions as a result of Iranian intervention and the practices and policies of the PYD militia.
The Coordinator of the Committee, Abd al-Basit Abd al-Latif, stressed that al-Jazira and Euphrates Committee is constantly monitoring the PYD’s arrest campaigns for the purpose of compulsory as well as the growing Iranian presence into the region. He pointed out these are among the major reasons that lead to emptying the region of its population.
