Secretary-General of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Haitham Rahma, stressed that the results of the Lebanese parliamentary elections boosted that hopes of bringing about real change in the current balances in favor of the Lebanese national figures and parties that are fighting for Lebanon’s sovereignty and its true independence from the Assad and Iranian regimes.
Rahma pointed out that these elections could establish the beginning of a new era that will free Lebanon from the hegemony of arms, tutelage and corruption, and achieves real sovereignty by weakening the dependence on the Iranian mullahs’ regime and the agents of the Assad regime.
Moreover, Rahma expressed his appreciation for the Lebanese personalities and leaders who won the trust of the brotherly Lebanese people, and for their sincere support for the Syrian people and their revolution. He also praised the resistance to the Iranian hegemony over Lebanon and the region, most notably by Walid Jumblatt, Samir Geagea, Ashraf Rifi and Fouad Siniora.
Rahma stressed that the causes of the Syrian and Lebanese peoples are one, adding that the two peoples cannot enjoy security, freedom and prosperity as long as the criminal Assad regime and the terrorist Hezbollah militia are there.
Rahma reaffirmed the SOC’s support for democracy that meets the peoples’ demands and desires. He expressed the hope that the Syrian people will be able to achieve their dream of building a new Syria that preserves the freedom and dignity of all citizens, and respects neighboring countries, their sovereignty and independence, away from the Assad regime and its backers and their criminal militias.
