Haytham Rahmeh, the Secretary-General of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), has strongly criticized the international community for its failure to take action to halt the relentless bombings that are targeting innocent civilians in Palestinian Gaza.
In a statement, Rahmeh voiced his concerns, stating, “While the Israeli occupation continues to bomb civilians and all forms of life in Gaza, international and Arab inaction in stopping these brutal massacres encourages the occupation to continue its crimes.”
Rahmeh highlighted that the Israeli entity is persistently committing war crimes against civilians. After the loss of over 500 innocent lives at the Baptist Hospital, the Israeli military continued its relentless attacks and bombed a UNRWA-operated school, which was sheltering displaced individuals. This latest attack resulted in multiple casualties and fatalities in the town of Khan Yunis. Additionally, their ongoing bombing campaign has led to numerous atrocities across various areas in the Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, Rahmeh pointed out that the Israeli occupation has demonstrated a complete disregard for international laws, norms, and humanitarian principles. He drew a parallel between the Israeli government’s approach to Gaza and the way the Assad regime treats the Syrian people, emphasizing the urgent need for the international community to fulfill its responsibility in protecting civilians in both Gaza and Syria, which are currently facing an escalation of aggression targeting innocent individuals.
