In commemoration of the twelfth anniversary of the Syrian revolution, the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) recently held a revolutionary event in the town of Azaz in rural Aleppo. The event was attended by SOC members, ministers of the Syrian Interim Government, revolutionary activists, civil society organizations, and a large gathering of people from the region.
The celebration began with the playing of the Syrian national anthem, followed by a minute of silence for the fallen heroes of the Syrian Revolution. During the event, Najib Rahmou, Coordinator of the SOC’s Office in the liberated areas, stated that the twelfth anniversary of the revolution has increased their determination to move forward on the path of freedom and their commitment to the goals and principles of the great Syrian revolution.
Rahmon emphasized that the voices of the demonstrators in the squares in the liberated areas rekindled the revolution, and the mass demonstrations proved to the whole world that there is no solution in Syria except by overthrowing the Assad regime and its symbols. He stressed that it is not possible to rehabilitate this dilapidated regime, and the free people of Syria cannot accept the existence of this criminal regime in the future of Syria.
Furthermore, Rahmon emphasized that there is no choice but to struggle and work in Syria until the overthrow of this puppet regime and building the Syria they dream of – a Syria of freedom and dignity, and achieving the goals of the great revolution and celebrating victory and deliverance from the oppressors. He reiterated that there is no future for the criminal Assad regime in Syria.
