The General Assembly of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) held its 66th regular meeting on Monday, discussing the latest developments in the field situation and the political developments in Syria. One of the main issues discussed was the dire humanitarian conditions caused by the devastating earthquake in the liberated areas in northwestern Syria and the attempt of the Assad regime to exploit this human tragedy for political gains.
Moreover, the General Assembly discussed the ongoing normalization attempts with the Assad regime and reviewed the reports of the offices, departments, committees, executive bodies, and institutions.
On the twelfth anniversary of the start of the Syrian revolution, the General Assembly praised the steadfastness of the Syrian people and their unwavering commitment to their goals, reiterating their commitment to the goals and principles of the Syrian revolution until the Syrian people’s demands for freedom, dignity, and democracy are met.
Furthermore, the General Assembly denounced the recent wave of normalization with the Assad regime, considering it a wrong step. The members emphasized that any attempts to rehabilitate this regime would be an acceptance of its crimes and brutality, and would provide a green light for it to continue its aggression against the Syrian people.
