The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) released its monthly report for January, documenting the deaths of 72 civilians, including 18 children and 10 women. The report also documented at least 37 attacks on vital civilian centers and the regime’s use of incendiary weapons in civilian areas.
Additionally, the report recorded five deaths due to torture, two massacres, and at least 182 arrests, including against eight children and four women, primarily by Assad regime forces. The regime was responsible for 29 attacks on vital civilian centers, mainly in Idlib and Aleppo provinces, including assaults on educational and medical facilities.
Furthermore, the report highlights two attacks with incendiary weapons in populated areas away from frontlines, with no military activity observed at the time. The Assad regime continued to restrict civilians in its controlled areas, targeting political opposition through arrests and forced disappearances, particularly in Damascus, Rural Damascus, and Daraa provinces, where torture persists in detention centers.
The rights group also noted ongoing regime seizures of property and humanitarian aid funds, exploiting them for its own agenda and controlling their distribution through affiliated non-governmental organizations.
