The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) condemned the ongoing military escalation by the Russian occupation forces in northern Syria, stressing that the international community bears responsibility because of its silence.
The Russian air force on Friday committed a horrific crime in western rural Idlib, killing seven civilians, including four children from one family, and wounding many others, including children and women.
In a press release issued following the crime, the SOC said that the atrocities of the Assad regime, Putin and their allies have not stopped over the past several years, nor did those honor any of the ceasefire agreements and calls for de-escalation. These crimes are the result of the lack of a serious international deterrent action in spite of the abundant evidence on these crimes, it added.
The SOC stressed that letting the Syrian people suffer at the hands of the Assad regime and its allies is a crime the responsibility for which rests with the international community in view of its silence and indifference. “The crime continues, and the blood of the Syrians has not dried up for eleven years in view of the absence of effective action by the international community to hold this regime accountable or expel it from Syria.”
“The crimes that are taking place in Syria are being repeated in Ukraine and will be repeated in other countries if Russia is not stopped and the sources of terrorism, killing and destruction are not eliminated, namely the Assad regime and Iran’s militias.”
The Civil Defense said that the Russian jets targeted a poultry farm inhabited by displaced persons on the outskirts of the village of Al-Jadida and civilian homes on the outskirts of the village of Al-Janoudyia in western rural Idlib.
A few days ago, Russian jets also bombed the area of Jabal Al-Arbaeen and Horsh Msaibin near the town of Ariha south of Idlib.
