The Syrian Interim Government’s (SIG), through its continued communication with the Turkish government, is seeking to find a solution to the problem of obtaining a Turkish driver’s license as an applicant is required to obtain a certified and equalized education certificate.
SIG’s Head Abdurrahman Mustafa said that SIG submitted a request to the Turkish government to adopt a writing and reading test that will be conducted by SIG’s Ministry of Education. Those who pass the test will be given a certificate enabling them to apply for a Turkish driver’s license.
Mostafa pointed out that SIG will set up a special committee to supervise the tests and grant the certificates to the applicants. He pointed out that SIG cannot certify primary education certificates as it does not have an electronic record or a database for that stage of education.
He added that SIG sent a letter to the directorates of the Turkish Ministry of Education requesting that it accepts the certificates issued by SIG in the Arabic language and to consider them valid for applying for a driver’s license in Turkey.
Mustafa pointed out that SIG officials are still communicating with the Turkish authorities in order to secure acceptance of the SIG-issued certificates. He pointed out that SIG will announce details about these tests  once an agreement is reached with the Turkish authorities.
