The Minister of Defense in the Syrian Interim Government, Major General Salim Idris, gave a comprehensive overview on the military situation in the liberated areas and the new measures taken to confront the repeated terrorist attacks against civilians.
Idris said that the Syrian National Army is confronting the PYD militia and elements of the PKK terrorist organization, as well as the Iranian militia and Assad forces. He pointed out that he toured the frontlines in the liberated areas accompanied by the Deputy Chief of Staff.
Idris stressed the importance of raising combat readiness and fortifying the liberated areas, pointing out that the Syrian National Army is ready to intervene and protect its areas from any possible aggression.
Moreover, Idris indicated that his Ministry has conducted many military training courses in recent months to dozens of fighters, officers, and NCOs, stressing that this comes as part of the Ministry’s plan to build a professional national army.
Idris stressed that the terrorist bombings are primarily affecting civilians as they target popular markets with the aim of sowing chaos, fear, and instability.
Idris pointed out that the Ministry has issued strict instructions to search and identify suspicious vehicles going through the crossing points in order to fend off terrorist attacks. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
