Head of the Syrian Negotiations Commission (SNC), Anas Abdah, held a virtual meeting with the UN envoy to Syria, Geir Pedersen, and discussed with him the latest on the ground and political developments in Syria.
The two sides exchanged views on the need for implementing UN resolution 2254 with all its provisions as Abdah reaffirmed SNC’s support for the efforts of the UN envoy in this regard.
Abdah also reasserted the SNC’s support for the work of the Constitutional Committee which the UN envoy invited to hold its third session on August 24 in Geneva according an agreed upon agenda. He expressed his hope for success and making an achievement that would compensate for the hiatus caused by the global outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
Abdah also stressed the need to provide international support to the liberated areas to help confront the coronavirus pandemic and to ratchet up international pressure on the Assad regime to release detainees who are the most vulnerable to the deadly virus. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
