Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Ruba Habboush, said that the popular demands in Syria are still clear; namely toppling the Assad regime and building a free Syria through the implementation of UN Resolution 2254 so as to ensure the unity of Syria and fulfil the aspirations of the Syrian people.
In a briefing on Tuesday, Habboush added that the murderous Assad regime turned the revolution of the Syrian people into an international war against every Syrian who demanded freedom by bringing in the Russian and Iranian occupations, sectarian militias, and terrorist organizations.
Habbush stressed that there is no alternative to bringing an end to the rule of Assad and bringing him to justice along with the symbols of his regime for killing more than a million Syrians with chemical weapons, barrel bombs, torture, as well as for displacing millions more.
Moreover, Habbush stressed the need to achieve political transition in accordance with UN Resolution 2254; maintain the isolation of the Assad regime and refuse normalization of ties with it; expel it from international forums; and establish a new mechanism for the delivery of humanitarian aid to Syrians in the liberated areas away from Russian blackmail.
Habboush expressed her support for the demonstrations of the Iranian people aimed at overthrowing the mullahs’ regime, adding that the Iranian regime has expansionist and criminal goals to spread its sectarian and terrorist project.
She condemned the moral downfall of Hamas after a senior leader in the movement met with the head of the murderous, terrorist Assad regime in Damascus. She stressed that this move came at Iranian orders, and does not represent the position of the Palestinian people who did not spare an opportunity to prove their support for the Syrian people.
