The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) condemned the criminal attack on Al-Hamran crossing point near the town of Jarablus and on the village of Tarhin in rural Aleppo, stressing that it represents a grave escalation and state terrorism by the Russian occupation forces.
In a press release issued on Saturday, the SOC said: “The attack also constitutes new crime aimed at escalating the situation and imposing an atmosphere of killing, bombing and criminality.”
The attack involved the use of three tactical missiles that are believed to have been launched from Russian battleships off the Syrian coast. The missiles were loaded with prohibited cluster munitions. The attack killed four people and injured at least 27 more, as well as caused massive damage and fires in fuel tanks in the village of Tarhin.
“These crimes cannot be justified whatsoever as they are of purely terrorist, treacherous nature. They once again raise the need for a firm international position putting an end to these ongoing violations and crimes and forcing Russia to honor its obligations,” the SOC added.
The SOC reaffirmed “the right of the Syrian National Army to respond to the Russian and Assad regime’s crimes as we cannot unilaterally abide by any agreement or truce.” (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
