The President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SO), Salem Al-Meslet, has continued his international outreach to encourage friendly and sister countries to send humanitarian and medical aid to assist the victims of the devastating earthquake in northwestern Syria.
Al-Meslet held a virtual meeting with the French special envoy for Syria, Brigitte Curmi, in which he emphasized the need for immediate support for search and rescue teams to save those trapped under the rubble. He also stressed the need for urgent relief for those left in the open, facing disastrous weather and humanitarian conditions.
Al-Meslet reached out to officials at the US State Department, reiterating the need for accelerated assistance for rescue teams. The devastating earthquake has caused the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people, who are now exposed to catastrophic weather and humanitarian conditions.
The US State Department has pledged to increase support for northwestern Syria, specifically the Civil Defense Corps (also known as the White Helmets).
