A delegation from the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) extended congratulations to those overseeing the Church of Mary Magdalene and the Christian community in the town of Ras al-Ayn in the Hasakah province, on the occasion of Christmas and the New Year.
SOC’s member and Deputy Head of the local council in Ras al-Ayn, Hussein al-Raad, addressed the locals during the meeting, emphasizing the significance of these events in fostering closer ties among the members of Syrian society. The SOC’s delegation was briefed on the ongoing preparations for celebrating Christmas and New Year, with people from various sects participating alongside their Christian brothers. This underscores the spirit of cooperation and coexistence among all components of the region.
The attendees discussed the major challenges facing the region, such as power outages from the Allouk station, and highlighted the absence of humanitarian organizations, which negatively impacts the diversity of its population.
The SOC’s delegation underscored the importance of continuing to promote the spirit of brotherhood and solidarity among the region’s components, aiming to serve as a model for emulation in other regions. They emphasized that Christians are an essential and authentic component of Syrian society, enriching its cultural diversity.
