in Coalition News

The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee held a regular meeting in the presence of the SOC’s President, Salem Al-Meslet, and discussed the latest field and political developments and the results of the expansion consultations being carried out within the reform plan.

Al-Meslet gave an overview on the tour he made in the liberated areas and his visits to a number of institutions in the Turkish city of Gaziantep with the aim of finalizing the reform process. He said that the SOC’s General Assembly approved the process to ensure real representation of the active forces in the liberated areas.

Al-Meslet made it clear that the reform process is continuing with the aim of meeting the aspirations of the Syrian people, stressing the importance of injecting new blood into the body of the SOC and all institutions of the Syrian Revolution.

SOC’s Vice President, Ruba Habboush, talked about the symposium she held in Gaziantep with Syrian women regarding the Syrian national identity and the role of women in shaping this identity.

For his part, Secretary-General Haitham Rahma gave an overview on the work of the General Secretariat and his meeting with the Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior to discuss the situation of Syrian refugees in Turkey. He also stressed need to protect Syrian refugees and keep them away from the internal political debates.

Secretary of the political committee, Abdul Majeed Barakat, presented a report on the importance of establishing the Sports and Youth Commission. He also talked about his participation in the Stabilization Support Unit’s workshop to discuss the ongoing reform process.

Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people's unity within the same Syrian soil is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
