The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s presidential body, headed by Nasr Al-Hariri, held a virtual meeting with Head of the Syrian Interim Government, Abdurrahman Mustafa, and Minister of Health, Maram al-Sheikh and discussed with him the health conditions in the liberated areas after the detection of cases of coronavirus infection in the region.
Al-Sheikh gave an overview of the latest developments and the measures being taken by the Ministry of Health to contain the disease and prevent its spread, adding that all the confirmed cases belonged to doctors and medical personnel only.
Al-Sheikh warned of a catastrophe in the liberated areas in view of the very limited resources to confront the virus, adding that hospitals and medical centers in the liberated areas have only 145 ventilators for four million people.
SOC’s President Nasr Al-Hariri thanked the Minister of Health and medical staff working in the liberated areas, stressing that they bear the greatest burden in the face of this dangerous pandemic.
He said that the SOC will reach out to the World Health Organization and the International Committee of the Red Cross to secure the necessary assistance and support to the Ministry of Health to help contain the virus. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
