The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) expressed its full support for the renewed anti-regime demonstrations in Daraa province and the southern region in general, as well as for the protestors’ demands, namely the overthrow of the Assad regime and the release of detainees from its prisons.
In a press release issued on Sunday, the SOC lauded the sacrifices that the Syrian people are making to defend the principles and goals of the Syrian Revolution and their refusal to accept the survival of the murderous Assad regime.
“Our people in Daraa are once again revolting against the Assad regime, especially in the towns of Jasim, Ghabagheb, Muzayrib, Al-Sanamayn, and Dael. These protests clearly show that the revolution is alive in the hearts and minds of the Syrian people, and that the entire world must stand by the Syrian people and help them achieve their rightful demands and put an end to their suffering,” the SOC added.
The SOC stressed that the Assad regime and allies’ recapture of certain parts of Syria through barbaric military operations in which whole cities and towns were demolished and their people killed and displaced does not mean that it is a legitimate regime.
“The renewed anti-regime protests have proved that the Syrian people reject outright the Assad regime, and that they are still struggling for the sake of Syria’s freedom and independence from the regime and the foreign occupiers it brought to the country.”
