The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) launched an international campaign to mobilize support for the cause of the Syrian people by holding a series of meetings with permanent representatives, members of the Security Council, and heads of diplomatic missions to the United Nations on the sidelines of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.
The meetings primarily aimed to mobilize political and humanitarian support for the Syrian people as well as to push towards reaching a political solution in accordance with UN resolution 2254 in a way that fulfills the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, justice, dignity, and democracy.
The meetings included discussions of the latest developments in Syria, especially the Assad regime and its backers’ continued crimes against the Syrian people and the regime’s refusal to seriously engage in the constitutional process and the political process as a whole.
Since its formation in 2012, the SOC has regularly held meetings with foreign diplomats on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly annual meetings. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
