The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Committee of Civil Society Organizations held a virtual workshop with the Association of Civil Society Organizations as part of the efforts to strengthen cooperation with civil society institutions.
The workshop brought together coordinator of the Committee Zuhair Muhammad, SOC’s representative to Turkey, Nazir Al-Hakim, and SOC’s members Adnan Rahmon, Yahya Maktabi, and Ahmed Bakkoura.
Al-Hakim stressed the importance of cooperation with civil society organizations as he said that the workshop aims to work with civil society organizations as one team.
Representatives of civil society organizations stressed the SOC’s important role as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people, pointing to the need to pay attention to the problems that affect the Syrian people.
They also stressed the importance of distributing roles between the SOC and civil society organizations in a participatory manner as they agreed to work together to create a joint team to follow up on this issue.
Bakkoura talked about the work of the Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee, pointing out that the Committee will launch a new electronic portal to receive humanitarian issues and work to resolve them.
He affirmed the important role of civil society organizations in educating Syrian nationals in Turkey and the need to abide by the Turkish laws with regard to personal documents. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
