The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) said that violations of human rights in Syria by the tyrannical Assad regime and its allies are beyond description, from repression, detention and torture, besiegement, mass forced displacement and demographic change, to mass murder and war crimes.
In a press release issued on Human Rights Day, the SOC said that the responsibility for this horrible reality and the ongoing violations of human rights is not limited to the Assad regime, Russia, Iran, or the terrorist militias that are aiding and abetting them.
“The international community bears huge part of the responsibility for these continued violations for failing to hold the perpetrators accountable,” the SOC added.
The SOC stressed that “the international environment that allowed these violations of human rights to occur in Syria on such massive scale is equally responsible for allowing the regime to commit these crimes without fear of any consequences.”
“Detainees in the prisons of the Assad regime must remain on the top of the list of priorities in view of the torture and starvation they are being subjected to.”
The SOC added: “Every violation of human rights and every crime committed against detainees and in Syria is a stain on the forehead of the international community, the United Nations, the UN Council Security, and major actors.” (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
