President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem Al-Meslet, has lauded the Turkish and UAE governments for their swift and decisive efforts in providing urgent medical assistance to Shaam, a child girl who was injured in the earthquake. Al-Meslet also urged for treatment to be extended to other Syrian children who were affected by the disaster.
Al-Meslet stated that Shaam was transferred from Syrian territory to Turkish territory, where she received treatment for crush syndrome in cooperation with the Turkish government. The UAE then provided further medical care to Shaam on its own territory.
The Syrian Opposition Coalition President emphasized that the continuous bombardment of residential areas, especially medical centers, by the Assad regime, coupled with the devastating earthquake, has rendered the liberated areas in northwestern Syria incapable of treating critical cases.
Al-Meslet called for urgent attention to be given to treating all the injured and appealed to the United Nations and international organizations for their support in bolstering the health sector in northwestern Syria.
