Activists in the town of Jindires in northern rural Aleppo organized a sit-in protest against the farcical elections in Syria with the participation of a delegation from the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC).
SOC’s member Ahmed al-Shehadi said: “We support every anti-regime protest, especially during the current elections farce. We reiterate that the true place for Assad is at an international court that will hold him accountable for his crimes against the Syrian people.”
Al-Shehadi stressed that the SOC spares no effort to convey the true image of these sham elections to the states concerned with the Syrian affairs, especially European countries and the United States.
Member of the SOC’s political committee, Muhammad Yahya Maktabi, said: “This sit-in protest is not a protest against these farcical elections as they cannot be called elections, but an attempt to reproduce the murderous regime of Bashar al-Assad who killed well over a million people and destroyed 70 percent of Syria. He cannot be the president of Syria.”
Activists reaffirmed their rejection of the elections farce as they stressed that the Syrian revolution will continue. They also expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people who are suffering from the ravages of the Israeli occupation. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
