President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, addressed a speech to the Syrian people on the occasion of the auspicious Eid al-Fitr, in which he congratulated Syrians and wished them good and relief. He also congratulated the Arab and Islamic nations, praying that it would be an occasion for peace and freedom for all the peoples of the world.
“For eleven years, this occasion has been mixed with pain and grief because of the crimes of the Assad regime, Russia and Iran against the Syrian people, who have been displaced and become refugees in many countries of the world,” al-Meslet said.
Al-Meslet said that hundreds of thousands of detainees are unaware of this occasion because they are detained in dungeons that do not see sunlight, and tortured day and night because they demand freedom and dignity for their country.
He stressed that Al-Tadamon Massacre, which was perpetrated by the Assad regime’s intelligence, is an example of the thousands of similar hidden massacres that, if revealed, can answer the fate of tens of thousands of the disappeared and missing. He also stressed that the world cannot continue its inaction towards the criminal regime after a trove of evidence and documents have proved over the past decade that is a brutal genocidal regime.
Al-Meslet called for referring Al-Tadamon Massacre to the International Criminal Court and holding accountable the perpetrators of war crimes, chief among them is Bashar al-Assad and the leaders of his army and security services as the absolute duty of the international community and the United Nations. He said that the horrific images of al-Tadamon Massacre is irrefutable evidence of the extermination being practiced by the criminal regime.
“We are continuing with our people in the liberated areas and with every free Syrian with determination and yearning for freedom that takes them forward on the path they took eleven years ago: the path of freedom and dignity, in order to create a new festivity for all Syrians, the day of salvation from the Assad regime and its allies, militias and mercenaries that are killing Syrians and destroying their lives.
Al-Meslet stressed in his speech that the blood of one million Syrians is the biggest incentive to move forward on the path of freedom and dignity without making any concessions of any kind. He assured the Syrian people that the SOC will continue its efforts to improve the performance of the revolution’s institutions working in the service of our people in the educational, services, health and military sectors.
Al-Meslet called on all sisterly and friendly countries and all peoples and organizations of the free world to support a global coalition to hold war criminals accountable, especially the criminal Assad, Putin’s and Khamenei regimes.
He concluded his speech by saluting the steadfast, patient Syrian people who are showing unwavering commitment to their revolution and principles despite the adverse circumstances, wishing that all Syrians would celebrate the next Eid with victory and empowerment.
