President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Dr. Nasr Al-Hariri, and a large delegation on Tuesday met with Minister of Defense in the Syrian Interim Government (SIG), Major General Salim Idris, leadership of the Syrian National Army (SNA), and head of the military judiciary at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in the town of Azaz in rural Aleppo.
Participants discussed developments on the ground as well as the violations being committed by the Assad regime and its backers. They stressed the need to abide by the ceasefire agreement and work to reach a nationwide ceasefire with the aim of revitalizing the political process and reaching a political solution through the implementation of UN resolution 2254.
Participants praised the SNA’s constant combat readiness as they stressed that the SNA has the full right to respond to violations and to confront attempts by the Assad regime and its backers to advance on the liberated areas. They stressed that attempts by the Assad regime and its backers to achieve military victory are doomed to failure and no more than a “fantasy.”
Al-Hariri underscored the need to develop the Syrian National Army, raise its efficiency as an institution that represents all Syrians, improve security and stability in the liberated areas, and prevent the Assad regime forces and other terrorist militias from threatening the security and safety of the Syrian citizens.
Al-Hariri also stressed the need for collective action, increased cooperation, commitment to the goals of the Syrian revolution, and a political solution leading to the departure of the head of the regime. He said: “We started the Syrian revolution together and we will finish it together by waving the flags of victory.” (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
