President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Nasr al-Hariri, sent a letter to President of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, expressing deep sadness over the death of Lebanese young man Yusef Touq and the resulting incidents affecting Syrian refugees in the town of Bsharri.
Al-Hariri called on the Lebanese Forces chief to step up efforts to pacify the situation in Bsharri in order to avoid further backlash affecting Syrian refugees in the town. He stressed the need to hold the perpetrator of the crime accountable as he emphasized his rejection of collective punishment affecting all Syrian nationals in the region.
Al-Hariri offered his condolences to Geagea, family and friends of the deceased young man, expressing his deep regret for the incident. He lauded the measures being taken by the Lebanese authorities and the investigations they launched into the incident.
Al-Hariri affirmed his keenness to continue coordination and cooperation with the Lebanese government in order to protect the Syrian refugees, and to make decisions that would serve the common causes of the brotherly Syrian and Lebanese peoples. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
