On Monday, the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) held a meeting with former Tunisian President, Moncef Marzouki at the SOC’s headquarters in Istanbul, Türkiye. They discussed the latest developments in Syria and other Arab countries as part of the SOC’s campaign against the normalization of relations with the Assad regime and for accountability.
During the meeting, Marzouki strongly condemned recent efforts to rehabilitate the regime, stating that they will not change the reality of Syria’s economic, political, and sovereign crises, nor will they change the Syrian people’s desire to overthrow the regime.
Marzouki acknowledged that revolutions can be chaotic and that mistakes can be made during the process, but he stressed that perseverance is key to achieving the end goal.
He also emphasized that political competition is necessary in all formations and countries, but given the current circumstances, it is crucial for all revolution forces to unite in their efforts to overthrow tyranny. Once the regime is successfully ousted, the revolutionary forces can engage in friendly competition to showcase their abilities and compete for leadership, he added.
