SOC’s Youth Office Holds Seminar on Latest Developments in Caesar Act

Head of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Office in Ankara, Ahmed Bakkoura, met with Head of Corporate Relations and Communication Department at the Turkish Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) Mr. Ahmet Atabas and Assistant Specialist Pelin Eroğlu. In attendance was also Communication Officer of the Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee Inas Najjar.

The two sides discussed a report prepared by the SOC in cooperation with the Center for Strategic Studies in Ankara on the issues and problems that Syrian students are facing when applying for scholarships. They also discussed the criteria for the granting of scholarships and the possibility of standardizing the application tests for all Syrian students, taking into account the psychological conditions that Syrian students suffer from, especially in light of the coronavirus outbreak and distance learning.

They also discussed a proposal to include university students in the liberated areas within the scholarship scheme, and also include the Mardin Artuklu University with its Arabic department within the same scheme.

They also discussed drawing up a framework for cooperation in the area of training and working to develop the skills of Syrian students in Turkish universities, as well as strengthening the means of communication between Syrian students and YTB.

The two sides stressed the need to develop communication channels between Syrian media workers and YTB and to develop a plan to introduce scholarships to Syrian students. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)

Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people's unity within the same Syrian soil is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
