Representative of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) to Germany, Fadel Al-Rifai, met Japanese researcher and founder of the ‘Japan Stands with Syria’ organization Ichiko Yamada in Berlin. Al-Rifai thanked Yamada for his support for the cause of the Syrian people through his academic studies in exposing the Assad regime’s criminal practices against civilians and also through his support for the issue of detainees.
Al-Rifai assured the Japanese researcher that his activities will always be highly appreciated by the SOC as he said that the SOC is looking forward to receiving him at its headquarters.
The two sides discussed the latest developments in Syria as Al-Rifai talked about the Russian aggression on Syria and Moscow’s continued support for the Assad regime and its involvement in hundreds of massacres.
Al-Rifai pointed out that Moscow’s support for the Assad regime is further disrupting the political process and the implementation of the Geneva Communique of 2012 and the relevant UN resolutions, especially is Resolution 2254.
For his part, Mr. Yamada thanked Al-Rifai for the invitation to visit the SOC as he expressed his desire for joint cooperation between the two sides in order to better serve the cause of the Syrian people.
Mr. Yamada has already gone on four-day hunger strike in front of the Russian embassy in Berlin with the aim of demanding the immediate release of detainees in Assad’s prisons. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
