The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) stressed that Russia’s crimes against civilians in Syria continue unabated in conjunction with the barbaric bombardment Russian forces launched against Ukraine, stressing that Putin understands only the language of force and no dialogue can deter his atrocious crimes.
SOC’s member Ayman Al-Asimi said that the Russian and Assad regime forces have been carrying out airstrikes against civilian areas in rural Aleppo and Idlib since Monday evening, leaving civilian casualties, including children and women.
Al-Asimi condemned Russia’s terrorist attacks on Ukraine, stressing that these attacks are the result of a feeling of despair after the painful setbacks that Russian forces are suffering in Ukraine, and Putin’s disappointment with the failure of his plan to take control of Ukraine.
Al-Asimi pointed out that the renewed Russian bombing of civilians in Syria and Ukraine represents a blatant defiance to the whole world and undermines all the rules and laws established by the United Nations and the Security Council. He stressed that nothing can stop Vladimir Putin but an equivalent use of force, calling for providing the Syrian National Army with sufficient support to confront the Russian and Assad regime forces.
Local activists said that Russian jets launched several airstrikes on residential areas in the western rural Idlib in the early morning hours of Tuesday using vacuum missiles and causing material damage.
A child was killed and his mother was seriously injured in artillery shelling by the Russian and Assad regime forces on a civilian home and a wedding hall in the village of Al-Abzimo in rural Aleppo late on Wednesday, according to the Syrian Civil Defense.
The Civil Defense pointed out that about 50 families fled Al-Bir camp for the IDP near the village of Kafr Karmin in rural Aleppo in a state of panic as a result of artillery shelling by the Assad regime and Russia forces that targeted the camp on Wednesday.
